Iwa-enogu, “岩彩”, also known as mineral pigments, is a traditional Japanese painting technique that dates back centuries. The name "Iwa-enogu" translates to "rock color," which aptly describes the nature of these pigments. Unlike modern synthetic paints, Iwa-enogu pigments are derived from finely ground natural minerals, such as malachite, azurite, cinnabar, and others. These minerals are carefully processed to create a range of vibrant and enduring colors.
